It’s an epic road trip from Perth to Broome west coast plan in Australia, full wilderness and more amazing sceneries, absolutely don’t miss this plan! This article will share my experience & show an itinerary with you, making you have an unforgettable escape!

I must say that I haven’t been to every attraction on this road. So here I just tried some practical recommendations for road trips by my friends & residents and wrote itineraries using my experience as suggestions.
You don’t need to follow my whole plan; arrange it, add and remove some places in your mind and consider your limited day & budget. Then, hopefully, you will enjoy a fun fill & unforgettable road trip of your own!

It’s 3492 km, such a long way shown on Google Map, including many popular attractions worth being. So what I shared as my road trip experience on this route is to read more details about these attractions.
How Many Days Are Best For A Road Trip?
Exactly nobody wants to drive this route in a single day cause they always stay in their seats for 39 hrs without rest & food. Indeed, you need ten days to two weeks to take this long road trip. I’ve shared details of itineraries below the paragraphs.

2 Weeks Itinerary Perth Broome Road Trip
The best driving time of the Perth Broome road trip is 14 days because it’s just a good number of days to visit most attractions on a budget. So I recommend planning your itinerary for 14 days.

Day 1 – Perth City

Day 3 – Perth to Jurien Bay

- Estimated Drive Time – 3 hr 30 min

In this part route, you have these places drive-through:
- Sandboarding (Lancelin) – Another full-sand attraction where you can take sandboard surfing, rent a board & enjoy the whole white sand place! But be aware of your car parking. Don’t let it stuck in the sand. (Our experience)
- The Pinnacles Desert (Nambung National Park) – It’s an incredible natural attraction where you can see many natural stone pillars. You need to drive in, park, and then get off and walk to touch these rocks.
- Cervantes (Optional) – Another rest point you can take a break.
- Jurien Bay – A beautiful beach that chills you, and you can stay here for lunch and enjoy your fish & chips takeaway.
Leave Perth, go to Lancelin Sand Dunes, go to The Pinnacles Desert, and stay over in Jurien Bay.
Day 4 – Jurien Bay to Kalbarri
- Estimated Distance – 452 km
- Estimated Drive Time – 6 hr

In this part route, you have these places drive-through:
- Geraldton – This’s a medium town where you can stay at night, load food, and fill fuel.
- Leeman (Optional) – This town where many caravans stay here for much fresh seafood.
- Port Denison (Optional) – A port place you can take a break and enjoy the excellent seafood.
- Principality of Hutt River (Nain, Optional) – This special & historical place we are interested in looks like a village. But a self-declared principality. We were lucky to see King. Leonard now passed in 2019 and dissolved on 3 August 2020. So it’s now being a place named “Nain” search on Google Map.
- Hutt Lagoon – A sizeable pink lake near us; stay and have a look.
- Nature’s Window (Kalbarri National Park) – A stunning attraction that you cannot miss! A natural-shaped place located in a central river canyon. You have to buy the ticket to enter Kalbarri National Park, park your car, and then have a walking trail there. And there are several attractions close to the seaside around Kalbarri, and you need to drive to them.
- Kalbarri – After visiting Nature’s Window, you can stay the night in this town.
Go to Kalbarri National Park, visit Island Rock, Kalbarri Castle Cove, and Natural Bridge Kalbarri. In addition, Eagle Gorge, Mushroom Rock, Red Bluff, Jakes Point, and Nature’s Window stay over in Kalbarri town. Nature’s Window is the most popular and must-see attraction you must go for it.
Day 5 – Kabari to Monkey Mia

- Estimated Drive Time – 4 hr 3 min

- Denham
- Monkey Mia
Go to Denham & Monkey Mia, enjoy the beach, and stay in Monkey Mia.
Day 6 – Monkey Mia to Coral Bay
- Estimated Distance – 581 km
- Estimated Drive Time – 6 hr 11 min

In this part route, you have these places drive-through:
- Gladstone scenic lookout – A special place on the hill, many stuff piles here which people left as a memorized sign checked-in, attractive, but a bit strong wind so be careful standing.
- Carnarvon – It’s a medium town that is great for backpackers because several orchards are around, close to the seaside.
- Coral Bay – Another beautiful bay you can stay chill in before arriving at Exmouth. It’s a small town close to the seaside on the roadside of Minilya-Exmouth Rd.
Steep Point is a sandy place west of mainland Australia, is also challenging to reach, and strongly recommends 4WD. It’s another choice for a driving trip. Or another trip, leave Monkey Mia, visit Gladstone scenic, Carnarvon NASA tracking station, stay over in Coral Bay.
Day 7 – Coral Bay to Exmouth
- Estimated Distance – 150 km
- Estimated Drive Time – 1 hr 40 min

In this part route, you have these places drive-through:
- Exmouth – A lovely beach & you can dive with a whale. You have to turn to Minilya-Exmouth Rd. before Minilya.
Go to Exmouth to go diving with a whale, and stay over in Exmouth.
Day 8 – Exmouth to Karijini
- Estimated Distance – 640 km
- Estimated Drive Time – 8 hr

- Karijini National Park
Leave Exmouth, drive to Karijini National Park in 7 hrs, and stay overnight camping.
Day 9 – Karijini Trip

- Kalamina Gorge
- Kalamina Falls
- Kermits Pool
- Handrail Pool

Go hiking, play with water, enjoy great attractions & camping in Karijini National Park.
Day 10 – Karijini to Port Hedland

- Port Hedland
Leaving Karijini, drive to Port Hedland to stay overnight. You can load some food & drink in this town.
Day 11 – Port Hedland to Broome
- Estimated Distance – 620 km
- Estimated Drive Time – 7 hr

- Eighty Miles Beach
- Broome
Go to Eighty Mile Beach, enjoy the beach, finally reach Broome, and stay rest in your tourist park.
Day 12 – Broome & Kimberley

- Town Beach

Go to see dinosaur footprints at Gantheaume Point, then have water fun at Cable Beach.
Day 13 – Horizontal Falls Tour
Join the tour for Horizontal Falls; which doesn’t need to drive there by yourself cause there’s no way there. To join the time, you need to make an appointment before arriving at Broome, and they will pick you up for a flight & yacht. Then, after a fantastic day tour, go back to your camper, clean & ready to drop it off.
Day 14 – Return Your Vehicle To Broome
Return your campervan, take a flight back to Perth, trip complete.
